The attached photos show members of the Surrey Society of Model Engineers at their
recent Charity Open Day in Mill Lane, Leatherhead on Sunday 28th June 2009 in aid
of the East Surrey Branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
Well over 500
people attended the event throughout the day, paying just £1 each to ride on the
various model steam trains, and it is hoped that over £1,000 will have been raised
to support local people living with Motor Neurone Disease.
Branch Chairman, Simon
Edmands, thanked the event organisers and all the volunteers for their fantastic
support throughout the day, adding, "Events like these are crucial, not just for
raising funds for the Branch, but also for raising vital awareness of both Motor
Neurone Disease and the work of the Association!".
The East Surrey Branch of the MND
Association provides care and support to around 60 local people affected by Motor
Neurone Disease, as well as funding vital research into the disease itself -
